1:30 PM EDT: Plasma: A Limited Resource With Unlimited Potential

Plasma is the straw-colored fluid that makes up more than 50% of human blood volume. Initially used to save lives on the battlefields of WWII, plasma proteins are now used to treat multiple disease states, from bleeding disorders to lung disease. This session will describe the journey of plasma—from donation to manufacturing—and highlight the many disease states that are treated with this liquid gold.

Learning Outcomes: After the session, attendees will be able to describe the plasma donation process and plasma components, as well as discuss the disease states treated with plasma proteins.
