2:30 PM EDT: Medication Compliance in Patients With Mental Illness

Adherence with medication is a key factor in the maintenance of chronic mental illness and the resolution of acute illness. Patients with mental illness can often be nonadherent with medication and treatment, and this is challenging to manage in home or outpatient settings. This session will review risks factors and reasons for nonadherence in this patient population and strategies to improve adherence, which could lead to positive patient outcomes.

Learning Outcomes: After the session, attendees will be able to identify reasons for nonadherence in patients with mental illness and strategies to improve adherence to medication regimens.
