As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to transform health care delivery, clinicians must first understand the fundamentals before safely applying these technologies in practice. This session will provide a practical introduction to artificial intelligence, machine learning, generative AI, and emerging technologies shaping the future of patient care.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this session, learners will be able to:
• Describe the data pathway from point of entry to storage to extraction for measuring patient outcomes
• Explain the process of building on data to artificial intelligence
• Discuss the applications that are the result of the process of data to artificial intelligence
• Discuss introduction to artificial intelligence in health care and nursing
Jane Carrington, PhD, RN, FAMIA, FAAN
Jane Carrington, PhD, RN, FAMIA, FAAN, has over 26 years of experience as an analyst, scientist, and educator. She has worked to advance technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in nursing. Her emphasis is the electronic health record as a communication system and data guiding health care decision-making. She has emerged as a leader in nursing-education, health care, and artificial intelligence. Dr Carrington has been working to assist nursing programs to achieve success in faculty understanding AI, it's application in nursing education, and preparation of nursing students for the challenges in working with advancing technology.
